"Hawaiian Gothic" Gets a Cover!

And it's absolutely stunning!

The art is by April Martinez, who works for Loose Id and Liquid Silver books, and we think it perfectly encapsulates the tone and spirit of the novel. What do you think?

Hawaiian Gothic comes out from Loose Id on June 12th, 2012. We don't have an official blurb or a goodreads page to link to yet, but when we do, you know it'll be here! In the meantime, have you signed up for our new release newsletter? This newsletter will send you an email on the day a new book by us releases and nothing else. It's a great way to keep up to date on our writing!

Linky link: Fantasy at Carina Press, and win an ARC of "The Druid Stone"!

Today, executive editor of Carina Press and Cute Shoe Expert Angela James stopped by The Book Pushers to talk about fantasy at Carina--both current and upcoming--and name-dropped my and Violetta's upcoming release The Druid Stone!

The Druid Stone comes out (tentatively) in early August. It's an m/m urban fantasy about a young American man who travels to Ireland in search of a druid who can cure his family curse before his self-medicating kills him. There's time travel, evil sidhe kings, and of course a sizzling gay love story all in one epic package.

So check out Angela's post, leave a comment, and you could win your choice of Carina's fantasy offerings, including an ARC of The Druid Stone! Good luck!

Release Day! Five facts about "Bookended"

1. The story opens in a Chapters, which is a Canadian chain of bookstores that have Starbucks in-store. The downtown Vancouver location was a favourite haunt of mine as a university student: partially because they had an amazing selection of non-fiction books, but mostly because it was prime place to check out hot guys.

2. Ogden, the young man Fletcher and Julian pick up, is named after one of my third-year English professors. His appearance is based on Cole Mohr, a male model.

3. Two of my favourite poets are referenced in the story: Pablo Neruda and Allen Ginsberg. Ogden is reading a collection of Pablo Neruda's poetry when Julian and Fletcher first come upon him in the bookstore, and his tattoo comes from a line of Allen Ginsberg's "Howl".

4. All of the furniture in Julian's apartment comes from IKEA. That's because he spends all his money on nice suits. ;) A Hugo Boss suit, not including shirt, tie, cufflinks, belt, or shoes, would run him around $900. All together, his outfit could probably easily cost $1500!

5. The title "Bookended" refers to the story's setting, its narrative structure, and a sexual position!

"Bookended" is now on sale from Dreamspinner Press!
Download the ebook for $1.49 or add it on Goodreads.
Ad exec Fletcher Williams has the ideal personal assistant. Julian is hardworking, totally in tune with his boss’s needs, capable of enviable attention to detail... and completely willing to apply all those skills to their mutually gratifying sexual relationship. Fletcher doesn’t realize the extent to which he’s wrapped around Julian’s finger—until Julian invites Ogden, a bi-curious young artist they meet in a bookshop, to come home with them. After adding Ogden to their sex life, will Fletcher and Julian be able to return to business as usual?

"Cruce de Caminos" Announcement

The day is finally here! As of this morning, you can preorder Riptide Publishing's Riptide Rentboys 2012 Collection, including my and Violetta Vane's spooky bisexual paranormal, Cruce de Caminos:

Art by LC Chase

Addiction and desperation drive Sean O'Hara to a critical crossroads. Will he make the right decision, or will the floodwaters bound for New Orleans sweep him away?

Street kid Sean O’Hara has never had it easy, but New Orleans has driven him to his knees. His girlfriend’s broken up with him for a sugar daddy, a gun-toting pimp has robbed him of everything but the clothes on his back, and he’s down to his last two Oxycontin. Sean’s no seasoned streetwalker, but he’s not above it either, not when he’s already itching for his next fix.

A familiar-seeming stranger named Ángel may be his ticket to some quick cash, but only if Sean’s willing to help him indulge a high-class john’s weird fetish for the night. As Ángel tells him, in this city and this business, you have to get a little weird to survive.

When night falls on the French Quarter, Sean realizes Ángel and the john want more from him than he was expecting to give. What once seemed merely strange soon crosses the line into supernatural and sinister. And Ángel, the man Sean had viewed as a partner and protector, might also be his otherworldly judge and executioner.

It comes out May 21st, 2012, but as with all Riptide releases, if you pre-order it you get it two days early AND are entered in their "Free Books for a Year" drawing.

Hello April! Update

Today I went outside without a winter jacket! The snow in my backyard is finally melting, leaving us with a small lake. It's 7:30pm (as of writing) and the sun's just setting.

Ahhh, spring.

So other than the weather, how's April looking? Busy! Very busy!

First of all, editing. Violetta and I have 4 releases coming out in the coming months, all in various stages of edits:

Hawaiian Gothic, our Hawaiian ghost story coming to Loose Id in June, is back with our editor after finishing second round edits earlier this week.
The Druid Stone, our epic M/M urban fantasy coming out with Carina in late summer, just came back to us for a second round, which we're tackling now.
"Salting the Earth", our story in Storm Moon Press's Like It Or Not anthology, is sitting in our editor April L'Orange's inbox while she recovers from surgery. (Get well soon!)
and finally, "Cruce de Caminos", our M/M-flavoured horror for Riptide's rentboys line, is also in first round edits, and hopefully we'll be bringing you more news (including our gorgeous cover art!) this week!
I also have a release this month! That's right. My cheeky erotic M/M/M short "Bookended" comes to Dreamspinner on April 11th!!!!

Here's the blurb:
Ad exec Fletcher Williams has the ideal personal assistant. Julian is hardworking, totally in tune with his boss’s needs, capable of enviable attention to detail... and completely willing to apply all those skills to their mutually gratifying sexual relationship. Fletcher doesn’t realize the extent to which he’s wrapped around Julian’s finger—until Julian invites Ogden, a bi-curious young artist they meet in a bookshop, to come home with them. After adding Ogden to their sex life, will Fletcher and Julian be able to return to business as usual?
All I'll say for it is that it's all about the snarky dialogue and that the title works on a few different levels. ;)
